Our Foundation
Our History
Pastor Robert L. Holmes started Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in December of 1989 alongside Dr. Gloria Kirkland Holmes. Pastor Robert L. Holmes served faithfully as Senior Pastor for 32 years, until his passing in 2021.
Dr. Gloria Kirkland Holmes served faithfully as First Lady for 33 years until her passing in 2022.
Pastor Corey R.L. Holmes succeeds his father, Pastor Robert L. Holmes, and First Lady Tanika Holmes is the fragrance of the house as First Lady.

Church Vision
We shall commit ourselves to be a LOVING bible teaching, preaching, and believing body of Christ that is biblically and structurally sound. We will secure, cherish and modernize our edifice as we embark upon modern and relevant methods of ministry. We will create a high-spirited atmosphere by way of our worship, LOVE, SACRIFICE and God’s word.
We will create a pipeline between the churches, community and schools. We will aide in building strong foundations within our church, community and schools. We will accomplish this through LOVE, enrichment programs, community involvement through schools, homes and churches where social justice, gender justice, ecology and missional cause will be demonstrated. We will engage all generations, cultures and walks of life to become all things to all people.
We will make SACRIFICES to improve lives by introducing individuals into an intimate, LOVING relationship with Jesus Christ by the imparting of God’s word. Mt. Moriah Love Center is not just a place of worship, but a place of transformation, renewal of mind, recovery, LOVE, SACRIFICE and home to those who are spiritually without.

Pastor Holmes has served as Senior Pastor of Mount Moriah Love Center since 2021. A preacher, teacher, musician, and community leader, he brings a love for Scripture and a heart for people to his ministry.
Alongside First Lady Tanika Holmes, he welcomes you to get to know our church family. Whether you are exploring faith or ready to grow deeper, we would love to meet you.

When and where do we meet?
Sunday worship begins at 11:30 AM Central at 321 Normandy Street, Waterloo, IA 50703. You can also join us Wednesdays at 7:00 PM Central for An Hour of Love with Pastor Babyface.
Do I need to register or dress a certain way?
No registration is required. Come as you are, in clothing you feel comfortable wearing to worship. The visit card is optional and gives us a way to connect with you.
What will I experience?
Come ready to worship, hear the Word, and meet our church family. If you have questions before attending, call 319-595-5960—we would love to hear from you.

Use the directions link for our Normandy Street location. For parking, the best entrance, or accessibility arrangements, please call us before your visit so we can help you plan your arrival.
How long is the service?
Service is typically 90 minutes long.
